Sports is the Same for All: the Road to London 2012
The Lamont Centre has from its initiation promoted excellence in paralympic sport, its aim to form a paralympic team for London 2012 that Romania can be proud of.
At the present moment two of its members Bobi Simion and Petru Ifrosa have a very good chance to qualify for the World Paralympic Table Tennis Championships in Korea in October 2010.

Bobi Simion
Bobi is 28 and was born in Reghin in 1980. He started to play high performance table tennis in 2001, at the Lamont Center, took two years out between 2004-2006 and started to train seriously again in 2007. At the present moment in class 6 Bobi is number 8 in the world and number 6 in Europe. Bobi’s recent results: |

Petru Ifrosa
Petru Ifrosa will be 29 in December 2009. He became a member of the Lamont center in 2004.
Petru at present lies number 24 in the world and number 16 in Europe. Petru’s recent results:

With a view also of including young people with visual impairment in the paralympic team, the Lamont Centre has collaborated with the local school for the blind in Cluj. Emese Maniu has formed a swimming team comprising 4 children: Ana Ciorap (16 yrs), Naomi Ciorap (13 yrs), Samuel Ciorap (15 yrs) and Cristina Todea (12 yrs). With the help of the Technical University who have given them training facilities at the Cluj Olympic swimming pool and Emese’s dedication, we hope that they may qualify for London 2012.
