Jordan Alwatani Open
Amman, Jordan
2-7 April

75 players from 10 countries participated in this Jordanian Alwatani competition Open and the Romanian team comprised 2 players; Dacian Makszin, Petru Ifrosa.
In the Open competition for the first time both Dacian and Petru got to the final eight but were unfortunately knocked out then. In the singles both got to the finals and finally won bronze medals in their respective classes.
In the combined class 4-5 team event they again reached the finals and won the bronze medal.
Finally Dacian won 630 WRP and Petru 620 WRP an excellent result for a high level competition.

 

7th Slovenian Open
Lasko Slovenia
4-7 May 2010

265 players from 33 countries participated in this 7th Slovenian Open. The Romanian team comprised 3 male players and one female player; Dacian Makszin, Petru Ifrosa, Bobi Simion, Gabriela Constantin.

In the open Dacian won his first two matches against Italy and Hong Kong – a very good result while the rest lost in the first round.

In the singles only Bobi reached the last eight where he was knocked out by France.

In the team event Gabi formed a team with Raiisa Tchebenika from Russia and they played again two very strong teams – Russia and Ukraine – and unfortunately lost.

Dacian and Petru faced first the very strong team of Sweden and it was a very good match but finally they lost 2-3. In the second match they played against Brazil and Switzerland which they won 3-0 putting them in the final eight.

Bobi teamed up with Thomas Rau and they lost the first match against Russia and Brazil. In the second match they won 3-0 against a strong Turkey team putting them in the final eight.

Finlly Dacian won 540 WRP; Petru won 340 points

1st French Open International
Centre Sportif Mangin Beaulieu
Nantes, France
7-11 July 2010

200 players from 23 countries participated in this First French Open in Nantes, France. Three players from Romania took part; Dacian Makszin and Bobi Simion from Centrul Lamont, Cluj and Victor Doana from CSHF Maraton’93, Lugoj.
In the Open competition Bobi was drawn against a Class 9 from Sweden, no 10 in the world 0-2. Dacian was drawn against a French Class 1 player, no 3 in the world but won easily 2-0. Victor lost to a class 6 player from France. In Class 6 the first 14 players in the world participated and therefore it was a mini World Championships. Bobi lost to the Russian and to the Israeli but won against the Swiss player but it was not enough to make the final eight in the singles. On the other hand Dacian won two matches against Taipei and Belgium in his group only losing to the Turkish player and moved into the final 12. He then had a very tough match against the Israel player which he won putting himself in the final eight of the competition. Dacian then played and lost to the Austrian player who went on to win gold. Victor lost all matches in the singles event.
In the team event Bobi partnered Carlo Michell from Brazil but it was not a good choice and though Bobi won two single matches the Brazilian won nothing so they did not make the final four teams. Victor partnered a very good player from Belgium but lost all five matches. Dacian partnered a young Swiss player and they won all their matches in their group against Taipei, Belgium and Austria/Israel. They then moved into the semi-final and won a very tough match against Israel. In the final they played against the Austrian team no 3 in the world and lost but they had won the silver medal.
This was a very well organized competition in excellent accommodation and  first class playing conditions but unfortunately the weather was very hot around 35o. There was no air conditioning in the hall at all and at times the temperature reached over 40o.  In the end Dacian won 400 points and the silver medal in the team event; Bobi 40 points and Victor 15 points for his one double win.
