Hungarian Open International Table Tennis Competition

March 12 - 13, 2004

Budapest, Hungary

There were 152 competitors, classed 1 - 10, from 18 different countries who participated in this competitionin. Three players from the Lamont Centre took part: Bobi Simion, Dacian Makszin and Mihai Miron.  All three competed in the Open, Singles and Doubles events.   None of the players were placed in any awards, but there was a great difference in their scores in this competition from their last international competition.Even though they didn't place in any awards, it was wonderful to see the progress the three competitors have made since last October. Psychologically, they know now they can compete well, and their progress is due to their hard work with their wonderful trainer Anca. We are confident that in July at Debrecen, Hungary we have a good chance of moving into the quarter finals!

Hungarian National Cup in Table Tennis

July 16 - 18, 2004Debrecen, Hungary

Quality overcame quantity in this competition. There were only 26 participants in total, but two of the top Olympic players in Hungary took part. For Delia and Petru it was their first time in an international match and they both did really well, playing calmly and with maturity. In the doubles matches, classes were not taken into consideration and therefore there was no chance for those in the greater classes of disability e.g. 6,7,8: it was certain that those in Class 9 & 10 would win the first places, which they did. There were also mixed doubles for the first time and Delia was sought after by all 7 Lamont Centre members but in the end she played with Dorel. They were knocked out in the first round but it was another experience for us. However in the end we were delighted with the results, which demonstrates our progress internationally.

Romanian National

Table Tennis ChampionshipsJuly 23 - 24, 2004Galati, Romania

The National Table Tennis championships and the Danube Cup, comprising Athletics, Bowling and Shooting attracted 86 participants from Romania. Twelve members from the Lamont Centre took part and as you can see from the results below we did very well in the Table–Tennis event. In fact there was no other team in Romania that did so well. These results very much reflect the training provided by our new coach, Anca Kereches. In the Danube Cup we achieved 6th place.
